Black Tea
Teas From China
Tea originated in China some 4,500 years ago and still China produces more tea than any other country. Perhaps more famed for its 'ten thousand' green teas, but the China blacks are well worth tasting too.
Teas From Sri Lanka
Teas from 'the isle of serendipity' formally known as Ceylon. Two monsoons from opposite directions ensure that tea grows in Sri Lanka throughout the year, from coastal elevations up to 2,500 metres (8,000ft). Sri Lanka has a wonderful green carpet of tea bushes from which we have picked our favorites.
Teas From India
When the British green tea merchants were expelled from China they planted stolen seed in North India. Unable to reproduce the Chinese green tea method of manufacture the Indian teas fermented and became black tea - and so a new industry was born. The plantations range in height and climate, meaning that each area produces teas of a definite individual character and flavour.
Other Black Teas
We plan in the future to introduce promising teas from little known growing areas that produce high quality delectable speciality teas. To the existing teas from Nepal and Indonesisa we have now added a rare black tea from Vietnam.
